March's Tuesday after school mountain bike rides from behind MVMS
Please join us for another fun set Tuesday of after school mountain bike rides from behind MVMS. We’ve now made it through the darkest months and will extend our rides to 5:30 to give us access to some of our longer trail route options.
Before their ride, please go over your child’s bike with them and address any mechanical issues that may cause problems on the trail. Also, please help your student pack all of their cycling gear including their helmet, bike gloves, a spare tube, lots of food, plenty of water and lights. Also, I recommend a light wind beaker or rain jacket (when appropriate) that can be carried in a pocket. Light weight knee pads, elbow pads and protective eyewear are, also, recommended. For riders who are allergic to poison oak, a single use packet (or reusable small container) of Tecnu is another great thing to pack. Also, please make sure that your rider brings a mask and small bottle of hand sanitizer.
We ask any participant who has recently tested positive for Covid-19, having recently taken fever reducing medication or reporting symptoms that could come from Covid-19, to please follow our state Covid guidelines in planning their return to our group.
All parents of participating minors need to go to the parent portion of the CDC website and familiarize themselves with the available CDC concussion information. Concussions can and do happen during mountain biking. Sometimes symptoms will take hours or days to become apparent. It is important that we are all prepared. https://www.cdc.gov/headsup/pdfs/youthsports/parents_eng.pdf
Also, all parents are welcome to join us for rides. Please contact Emile at emilemulholland@gmail.com if you would like to ride with our group.
Thanks!
