July's Camping and Mountain Biking Trip to the Sierras
July's Camping and Mountain Biking Trip to the Sierras
*If you have a rider who is interested in doing their first trip with us, please reach out to Emile at emilemulholland@gmail.com to see if this will be appropriate for your rider this summer.
This three day, two night trip will take us into the Tahoe National Forrest for some challenging mountain biking and fun camping. This trip will include epic trails and remote camping under huge pines, near clear high elevation lakes. Our rides will include a number of super fun, challenging rocky trails as well as some purpose built mountain bike trails in the Foothills. Transportation and meals are included with this camp.
Some of our rides will be at altitude and they are longer and more challenging than most of the riding that we do. Also, we will be riding in remote areas that are further than normal from medical assistance. For these reasons, I consider this to be a higher risk camp than our other camps. To us, the experience of riding and exploring in this beautiful remote landscape overcomes the downside of it’s increased risk. Please talk to Emile before signing up for this camp if you have concerns or questions about what we will be doing.
Also, please note that we will be spending time traveling together in a van during this camp. Traveling together in the van gives this camp a higher risk of covid-19 or other disease transmission than our day camps. To help decrease our risk, we ask that all participants follow local and state Covid guidelines as our trip grow near.
All participants will need to bring clothes for three days of camping and riding, their bike, their riding gear, biking food, a tent, a sleeping bag, a sleeping pad, a pillow, a toiletry kit, a flashlight and or lantern, eating utensils (including a plate, a bowl, a cup and silverware), sun screen and a stick of lip balm. Elbow pads, knee pads, protective eyewear, fishing gear and a good book are also recommended.
Please note that if California is already in fire season and dealing with smoke, we may need to move or cancel our camp. Also, we need at least four participants to fund our camp. If we do not have four participants, you will be notified as soon as possible and refunded.
Because of the cost of credit card processing, we ask you not to sign up for this camp unless you are sure that your rider will be able and excited to participate. Refunds will be subject to a ten percent fee and refunds will not be available within seven days of our camp.
When: July 29th through 31st
Who: This camp is designed for experienced high school mountain bikers
Pick Up and Drop Off is planned for Fairfax and Mill Valley and we are happy to stop in additional locations
Please sign up by July 22nd to help give us plenty of time to buy supplies for our trip.
